Let’s talk about the common warning signs of periodontal disease. For many, this starts in the gingivitis stage, in which you could experience sore and red gums. As the issue progresses into periodontal disease, then you could experience bleeding when you brush or floss, or possible swelling. Some could notice gum recession, in which the tissues pull back from the teeth, making them appear long and uneven. When you notice one or more of these possible symptoms, we want you to contact our office right away. We can conduct an exam with digital imaging technology and then create a treatment plan to manage the disease and keep your smile whole, often using laser dentistry.
Our team can offer treatment with a number of different systems, such as LANAP, REPAIR with WaterLase, and Fotona. We use the technology to target the diseased parts of your smile with precision, so we can remove them without impacting healthy tissues. We can reshape the gum line for better symmetry too. The process allows healthy tissues to reattach to the teeth, reducing the depth of periodontal pockets and making the disease more manageable.
We could also use the technology to aid in other treatments. For example, if you have major gum recession we could conduct a conservative alternative to traditional gum grafts with the Pinhole Surgical Technique, assisting with dental lasers to adjust underlying structures. If you have lost teeth and your lower jaw has weakened, this could prevent you from being able to receive dental implants. But with this technology, we could aid in jawbone grafting to strengthen the lower jaw so it can support one or more dental implants, providing tooth replacement that looks and functions like natural teeth.
